China evokes many images, for example:
- The Great Wall - one of the only manmade objects visible from outer space
- Superior martial arts - Jet Li sure can kick some butt
- And of course, "The Thousand Year Old Egg"* - if you eat it, you will never need to prove your bravery again!
But did you know the opportunity for professional advancement that waits, just across the pond, teaching English in China?
China has the largest population in the world, over a billion people! The country also has the largest demand for native English speakers. China's language schools can be found in all the major cities, (Shanghai, Beijing , Hong Kong, Tianjin, Wuhan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen) as well as the more rural provinces and towns.
There is hardly a corner of China where someone can't find a language school or get an English lesson. The demand for English is certainly there, and with it, the need for native speakers who can give exceptional lessons and advice.
China's craving for English language goes beyond just being able to speak, read and write. There is also an embrace of English culture. Chinese people watch films from Hollywood, follow the underground music acts out of New York and generally stay up-to-speed on all the viral videos and pop culture icons and stories that reach national status.

* The thousand-year-old egg is a Chinese cuisine ingredient made by preserving duck, chicken or quail eggs in a mixture of clay, ash, salt, lime, and rice hull for several weeks to several months. After the process is completed, the yolk becomes a dark green, cream-like substance with a strong odor of sulphur and ammonia. Yum!
