Teach English in Argentina! Staff member Jade shares her experience

I became fascinated with traveling, Latin culture, and the Spanish language after briefly living in Mexico when I was 16. I majored in Spanish in college and after graduation I was determined to live in a Spanish-speaking country. I was looking into different ways to work in South America when I came across TEFL. It all happened so quickly! One minute I was working at a grocery store in Chicago and the next I was living in Buenos Aires. I got a job just one week into my search, and found an apartment living with two hilarious Argentinians. I primarily taught conversational and business English to adults, and made enough money to pay my rent and live a relaxed Argentine life.

Traveling throughout Latin America is quite inexpensive and you'd be amazed what you can do on a limited budget. For example, I just got back from a 6-month trip backpacking throughout Central and South America, spending just $4000 to have the most incredible journey of my life.

I first headed to Costa Rica and Panama, where I danced through the clouds at Monte Verde Cloud Forest, then went to Brazil where I celebrated Carnaval in Rio, and traveled westwards to Uruguay where I motor-biked around Colonia before continuing to Argentina to dance the Tango in Buenos Aires. After that it was on to Chile, where I visited Pablo Neruda's home and felt the aftershocks of an earthquake. The last leg of my trip was in Peru. I celebrated my birthday in Lima drinking countless sour piscos and eating delicious ceviche, then headed to Cusco, drinking Mate de coca for my altitude sickness. The last stop of my trip was Machu Picchu, where I hiked up the Incan Jungle and sat speechless in the Incan ruins. It was the perfect place to end my trip--peacefully reflecting on

my journey.

Hello,

Teaching English is a handy way to combine travel with a career. The more feathers in your cap the better job you can find, but the main prerequisite is to be able to speak fluent English. Thanks a lot.
